Traditional South African Stew

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Stew Meat, lean, cubed, salted to taste
  • 1 28 oz. can of tomatoes
  • 12 small whole mushrooms
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced diagonally
  • 12 pearl onions
  • 1 stalk celery, sliced diagonally
  • 1 sweet potato, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup African Rhino™ Hot Sauce
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed

Instructions (Serves 4)

  • Combine meat, tomatoes, mushrooms, celery, sweet potato, onions, salt, bay leaf, and African Rhino™ Hot Sauce in a 5 qt. saucepan.List Title 1
  • Mix well and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer, covered for one hour, adding water if necessary.
  • Stir in peanut butter.
  • Simmer for one hour longer or until vegetables and meat are tender.
  • Add peas and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with rice.
